MATERIAL

All cloth is woven in West Yorkshire, in small runs at local weaving mills before being sent to highly skilled Huddersfield-based cloth finishers for washing and drying.

Each cushion is sewn in Anna-Lisa's studio and is backed with the highest quality natural linen. Using cruelty free merino wool from a local supplier, these cushions are sustainably and consciously sourced. 

Like Marwood ties, the cushion cloth is woven on a Jacquard loom. Whilst the technique is the same, the result is very different, creating this blanket jacquard using heavier wool yarns and a more open weave.

STORY

Marwood homeware: Introducing our first homeware collection, designed by British textile designer Anna-Lisa Smith. The Porto cushion design was inspired by the Glazing Bars of Bank Bottom Mill, an old abandoned weaving mill that her studio looks out on.

The cushions are sold as covers only. This is to give our customers the choice of inner. Whilst we don't advocate duck feather inners, we have created a sustainable wool cushion inner, in the perfect size for our cushion. Each wool inner is made by hand,  for Marwood,  in England. If you are looking to source your own inner cushion, we recommend you buy a 50cm x 50cm inner as this will give a plump cushion finish. The cover is 47cm x 47cm.
