British Folk Art and Craft inspired the new Marwood Autumn/Winter '15 collection. Having visited Tate Britain last summer, we were struck by the stories, skill and heart that went in to intricate pieces of art. Their genuine expression in order to tell a tale was refreshing and free in spirit. We then deconstructed our English Lace and created appliqué patches and hand stitched them on to our woven jacquards. We also took inspiration from Paul Klee for colour and pattern and interpreted these colour blocks in hand embroidery that appears to be a sampler – testing stitches, exploring composition, playing and enjoying the expression.
